What can a Slag Baseline do for you?
A baseline analysis of your slag can help you realize optimum use of your refractory life and minimize loss on your alloys to help you effectively and efficiently melt your product. With the baseline you will be able to more effectively monitor how your slag is forming and reacting with the lining in your melt and / or transfer vessels. Along with helping to save the lining the baseline can also help you stop slag defects in your products by monitoring the fluidity of the slag. Making sure that you have the proper slag chemistry for your type of melt operation will save your company time and money.
- Monitoring and testing your slag can also help determine when detrimental trace elements enter into the melt from various additions, such as scrap steel and coke.
What do we offer in a Baseline?
During a slag baseline we will show you the best place to take your slag and when. During the initial setup we will analyze 10 to 15 slags (to be determined by the type and amount of material melted), and all of your additions, for normal quality and for any trace elements that may be detrimental to your operation.
After the initial baseline, we will make a recommendation to you about how often you should be testing your slag and additions for routine analysis. We will also make recommendations based upon what is seen in the analysis and inform you of your areas of highest concern relating to your melting operation.
